Joan Scruton, MBE

Joan Scruton, an Honorary member of ISCoS died on 1st November 2007 aged 89. She worked closely with Sir Ludwig Guttmann at the National Spinal Injuries Centre, Stoke Mandeville Hospital and in the foundation of the Stoke Mandeville Wheelchair Games. She was, for many years, the Secretary General of the International Stoke Mandeville Wheelchair Sports Federation (ISMWSF). She was actively involved in the administration of sport for the disabled on both a national and international level and in particular with the development of the Paralympic Games from 1960 until 1992.
