Professor Paul Kennedy Legacy Scholarship for Psychology

ISCoS is delighted to announce the launch of this award which took place at the Psychosocial Preconference, ISCoS 2019.   Professor Paul Kennedy was known to many in the ISCoS Community, presenting his research and clinical work 21 times at ISCoS meetings.  As Section Editor of Spinal Cord, his substantial achievements were commemorated in the journal Paul led psychological thinking and research in coping, adjustment and quality of life, rehabilitation planning (creating the Stoke Mandeville Spinal Needs Assessment Checklist and Goal Planning Programme) as well as conducting research into a number of areas associated with spinal cord injury and other physical health conditions.  A testimony to Paul’s ability to combine clinical work with research and generosity to reach, connect and share his expertise, this award is jointly sponsored by the University of Sydney, National Spinal Injuries Centre, Stoke Mandeville Hospital where Paul was Head of the Clinical Psychology Department, and Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research, of which Paul was a founding Trustee.  Paul’s family have also provided a generous donation for the first scholarship.
